We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in Houston, Texas in a contract position with the potential to become permanent. This role combines day-to-day receivables work with direct customer interaction, making it ideal for someone who can manage financial transactions accurately while providing responsive service. The position supports billing, collections, order processing, and account follow-up while helping maintain a positive experience for customers.
Job Responsibility
Oversee accounts receivable activities from invoice creation through payment follow-up to help keep customer accounts current
Review and enter sales orders accurately, then prepare billing documents based on completed order information
Produce and distribute invoices through regular delivery schedules, including support for recurring mailed invoice batches
Coordinate with accounting leadership to record receivable-related entries and maintain accurate general ledger support
Conduct commercial collections outreach by contacting customers about overdue balances and documenting follow-up activity
Assist with applying incoming payments, including credit card transactions and other cash receipts, to the correct customer accounts
Respond to customer questions related to invoices, account balances, and payment status in a prompt and timely manner
Investigate billing concerns and work with internal partners to resolve discrepancies that may delay payment
Requirements
Experience handling accounts receivable responsibilities, including billing, invoicing, and payment tracking
Background in commercial collections with the ability to follow up on past-due accounts effectively and professionally
Working knowledge of cash application and cash collections processes
Familiarity with billing systems and maintaining accurate financial transaction records
Experience using Dynamics GP in an accounting or receivables environment
Strong customer service and communication skills for handling client questions and account issues
High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when managing transactions and documentation
