We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team in Newark, New Jersey. This role is essential in managing collections and deductions for large manufacturing accounts, ensuring timely payments and reducing discrepancies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to resolving operational challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Manage collections to ensure timely payments on sales invoices and improve accounts receivable turnover while reducing bad debt losses
Analyze and address customer deductions, including pricing shortages, returns, and penalties, to minimize unauthorized deductions
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve collection and deduction issues effectively
Monitor and process paybacks on deductions to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goals
Cross-train in billing, cash application, and accounts receivable write-offs to support team operations as required
Utilize customer portals to retrieve and enter information on open invoices and deductions
Assist in reconciling unapplied payments and credits related to outstanding invoices and deductions
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reporting and reconciliation tasks
Provide attentive and precise communication and service to multi-level management and customers, ensuring timely resolution of issues
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related functions
Proficiency in managing commercial collections and cash applications
Familiarity with customer portals for invoice and deduction processing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of accounts receivable controls and reporting standards
High attention to detail and accuracy in work processes
