Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team in Carson, California. In this role, you will manage accounts receivable and customer collections within a dynamic freight forwarding and transportation environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the logistics or transportation industry, with excellent skills in resolving billing issues, processing payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee a portfolio of customer accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices
Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify and address overdue payments
Resolve billing disputes and documentation delays, including proof of delivery (POD), bills of lading (BOL), and accessorial charges
Collaborate with operations, billing, and branch teams to address issues preventing payment
Accurately apply customer payments, including checks, credit cards, and wire transfers, to maintain up-to-date account statements
Record deposits promptly and ensure accurate cash application to reflect real-time account balances
Utilize CargoWise One to document collection activities, update account statuses, and maintain accurate records
Navigate customer payment portals such as Coupa, Ariba, and Paymode-X to ensure invoices are processed and payments are received
Prepare daily reports to track collection activities and payment status
Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams to resolve escalations and maintain strong relationships

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of accounts receivable or collections experience in the freight forwarding, transportation, or logistics industry
Comprehensive knowledge of freight billing processes and customer payment cycles
Proficiency in applying payments and maintaining accurate financial records
Familiarity with CargoWise One or similar accounting systems is strongly preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive conversations tactfully
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple accounts effectively
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
Comfort and experience with customer payment portals such as Coupa, Ariba, or Paymode-X
