We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager to lead daily payables operations in Nashville, Tennessee. This role oversees invoice processing, payment scheduling, and team performance while helping maintain accurate financial records and reliable vendor support. Job Responsibility
Direct the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring invoices are reviewed, coded, and processed accurately and on time.
Supervise payment activities, including check disbursements and ACH transactions, while maintaining compliance with internal controls.
Manage and support accounts payable staff by assigning work, monitoring productivity, and providing guidance on best practices.
Review vendor invoices for proper documentation, account coding, and approval before payment is released.
Coordinate regular payment cycles and resolve exceptions that could delay timely vendor settlement.
Partner with accounting and finance teams to reconcile payables activity and support accurate month-end reporting.
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, vendor questions, and payment issues with professionalism and urgency.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable procedures and strengthen process consistency across the department.
Requirements
Prior experience leading or supervising an accounts payable team in a detail-focused accounting environment.
Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable processes, including invoice coding, payment execution, and record maintenance.
Hands-on experience managing check runs and ACH payments with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to review financial documents carefully and detect discrepancies or incomplete information.
Solid understanding of internal controls, approvals, and compliance standards related to disbursements.
Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software used for payables operations.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
