We are looking for a highly organized and skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Atlanta, Georgia. This position offers a flexible work arrangement, requiring three days per week in the office and the remainder remotely. As an integral member of the accounting team, you will work closely with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient accounts payable operations. This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical abilities and advanced Excel expertise.
Job Responsibility:
Verify and validate data to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial standards
Assist with division-wide processes, including escheatment and maintaining account balances
Collaborate on team initiatives focused on improving workflows, such as root cause analysis and process optimization
Review and process adjustments submitted by customer service teams, ensuring proper system entry
Address issues related to daily operations, including system data transmissions and handling freight processing
Prepare monthly vendor reports, resolve payment discrepancies, and respond to vendor inquiries
Manage accounts payable tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices
Coordinate with various departments to streamline accounts payable functions and enhance efficiency
Support auditing efforts by providing necessary documentation and addressing any discrepancies
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in accounting or accounts payable roles
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools
Solid understanding of accounts payable processes and their financial implications
Familiarity with ERP systems such as JD Edwards and other accounting software
Strong organizational skills to manage high-volume portfolios effectively
Excellent communication abilities to interact with vendors and internal teams
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex financial tasks
