Job Description:

This Accounts Payable Specialist position involves overseeing accounts payable operations and supporting a team while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in day-to-day financial tasks. In this Contract to permanent Accounts Payable Specialist role, this opportunity offers potential for growth within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage and oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate handling of invoices and payments
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of two staff members, promoting their development and maintaining workflow efficiency
  • Utilize systems such as Costpoint and DocStar to streamline invoice processing and payment management
  • Perform account coding and ensure proper allocation of expenses to the correct accounts
  • Process invoices and verify accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Handle ACH transactions and check runs, maintaining compliance with company policies
  • Create and analyze reports using tools such as Excel, including pivot tables, to support financial decision-making
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth integration of accounts payable functions
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and implement best practices for operational improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, additional education/certification is a plus
  • Proven experience in accounts payable operations, with strong knowledge of invoice processing and payment methods
  • Proficiency in account coding and understanding of expense allocation principles
  • Familiarity with systems such as Costpoint and DocStar is highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to supervise and support team members who are new to the field as they develop their skills
  • Meticulous approach with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors
