We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing biotech organization in San Diego, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This part-time opportunity, expected to average 20–25 hours per week, will support daily payables activity and key close-cycle tasks within a manufacturing setting. The position works closely with the finance team and contributes to accurate financial reporting, vendor support, and efficient invoice processing.
Job Responsibility:
Manage a steady flow of vendor invoices, including purchase order-backed invoices and three-way matching, while ensuring entries are completed accurately and on schedule
Enter payable transactions into the accounting system with careful attention to coding, approval status, and supporting documentation
Partner with suppliers to address billing questions, resolve discrepancies, and provide updates related to payment timing and account activity
Review and process employee reimbursement requests in alignment with company policies and submission requirements
Assist with month-end accounting work by preparing accrual support, reconciling selected balances, and helping maintain close deadlines
Maintain organized and reliable financial records that support audit readiness and adherence to internal controls
Contribute to payment operations such as ACH activity and check runs to help ensure timely disbursement of funds
Work collaboratively with finance colleagues on special projects and other accounting-related assignments as business needs evolve
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting function
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated knowledge of invoice coding, purchase order processing, and three-way match procedures
Experience supporting AP activities in a manufacturing, life sciences, or biotech environment is preferred
Proficiency with QAD or a comparable ERP system, along with strong spreadsheet skills, including advanced Excel functions
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders
High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to work independently while managing priorities effectively in a part-time contract role
