We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Chester, Connecticut. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone with a strong background in processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and managing accounts payable functions within a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial operations and support process improvements.
Job Responsibility:
Process and verify a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy and efficiency
Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure correctness
Reconcile vendor statements on a monthly basis and address any discrepancies
Resolve issues related to pricing, freight charges, tax amounts, or receiving documentation
Collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, and Operations teams to address invoice and purchase order variances
Handle invoices for raw materials, subcontracted services, and inventory, ensuring proper coding and valuation
Identify and recommend enhancements to accounts payable processes and internal controls
Provide documentation and support for audits and financial reporting activities
Maintain organized and detailed records within the accounting platform
Offer guidance and training to entry-level team members on accounts payable systems and practices
Requirements:
Proven expertise in accounts payable operations, including vendor reconciliations and invoice processing
Hands-on experience with purchase orders and three-way matching transactions
Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems
Effective communication skills to liaise with vendors and internal teams
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
At least 5 years of relevant accounts payable experience, ideally in a manufacturing or inventory-driven environment
