Job Description:

A client in EaDo, Downtown Houston is offering a contract Accounting position focused on accounts payable with potential for permanent employment. The role is 100% onsite Monday - Friday, with hourly pay ranging from $25-$228 depending on experience level and software knowledge.

Job Responsibility:

  • Organize and upload invoices and obtain appropriate operational approvals
  • code invoices in compliance with budgets using accounting software workflows
  • set up new vendors in accounting software and ensure proper documentation is completed
  • interact with vendors and suppliers to collect W-9 forms prior to payment and maintain W-9 records
  • create accounts payable vouchers and process vendor checks
  • regularly monitor and track all daily credit card purchases
  • collect mileage and expense reports, verify appropriate authorizations, and process accordingly
  • assist in the preparation and processing of year-end 1099 forms
  • support finance and accounting leadership with special projects as needed
  • maintain accurate and organized accounting files.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • at least one year of relevant accounting experience required
  • proficiency in accounts payable processing
  • strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • high level of proficiency with financial database management and reporting systems such as Blackbaud Financial Edge and RealPage OneSite is valued
  • accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing written reports and financial documents
  • prior experience with real estate management and development companies is beneficial
  • exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • proficiency in time management, working independently, and adapting to rapidly changing priorities
  • problem-solving skills with sound judgment and the ability to address challenges diplomatically
  • team-oriented with a positive, proactive, service-oriented attitude.

Nice to have:

Prior experience with real estate management and development companies is beneficial.
