Our client in Birmingham is looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across accounting, compliance, and operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process vendor invoices, including fuel bills, and reconcile raw material tickets
Prepare daily production reports
Support month-end close with reconciliations and journal entries
Assist with financial reporting, monthly books, and audit requests
File monthly sales tax and other recurring tax filings
Prepare quarterly fuel tax returns and block assessments
Manage annual filings, including 1099s, 2290s, business licenses, and insurance renewals
Oversee fleet tag renewals and property tax filings
Provide general office support
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
5+ years of experience in construction or a related industry is preferred
Strong background in accounts payable and tax compliance
Notary Public is a plus
Experience with JD Edwards is a plus
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage deadlines and recurring reporting cycles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
ERP experience preferred
