We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team supporting our client in Fairfax, Virginia. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, thrives in a collaborative environment, and has a strong aptitude for financial systems. As a member of our full-time practice, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices while supporting essential accounting operations.
Job Responsibility:
Process a high volume of invoices daily using ERP and OCR tools, averaging 50 to 100 entries per day
Reconcile vendor statements to maintain accurate financial records and resolve any discrepancies
Assist in the month-end closing process, including booking accruals to ensure timely reporting
Address and resolve issues such as invoice disputes, purchase order funding, and vendor updates
Handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and discretion
Collaborate with Procurement and Accounting teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency
Participate in assigned projects to support departmental goals and initiatives
Communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams to maintain positive working relationships
Maintain detailed and organized records to ensure compliance and audit readiness
Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years of high-volume experience in Accounts Payable roles
Solid understanding of general accounting principles and procedures
Proficiency in financial systems, with experience in Oracle NetSuite and OCR tools (Kofax, OpenText, OpenBase, etc.)
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong analytical abilities and keen attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff and vendors
Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives
