Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Winston Salem, North Carolina. As part of a non-profit organization, you will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions and ensuring accurate payment processing. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while honing your expertise in accounts payable.

Job Responsibility:

Process and verify invoices for accuracy before entering them into the accounts payable system
Ensure proper account coding and adherence to organizational standards in all financial transactions
Manage payment processes, including Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers and check runs, in a timely manner
Monitor and reconcile accounts payable records to maintain data accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth payment workflows
Generate periodic reports on accounts payable activities for management review
Maintain detailed documentation of transactions to support auditing and compliance efforts
Implement best practices to improve efficiency within the accounts payable process
Assist with vendor communication to address inquiries and resolve payment issues

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounts payable or a related financial role
Strong knowledge of account coding and invoice processing
Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) procedures and check run processes
Proficiency in financial software and tools relevant to accounts payable
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies effectively
Strong communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams
Knowledge of compliance and auditing principles related to financial transactions
