Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position is part of a collaborative team responsible for managing payables and receivables for a large organization operating across multiple states. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering a chance to contribute to a dynamic work environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Accurately process vendor invoices, including performing three-way matching for inventory purchases
  • Monitor vendor statements to ensure account accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Handle vendor credits by reconciling returns with received credit memos
  • Apply customer payments to their respective accounts in a timely manner
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and vendors, providing clear and thorough assistance
  • Evaluate open purchase orders and take necessary actions to ensure timely resolution
  • Collaborate with an eight-person team to manage payables and receivables for a $200M company
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records to support efficient processing
  • Assist in transitioning accounting processes to updated software systems
  • Support routine financial operations while adhering to company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an accounts payable specialist is required
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable processes is preferred but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel, including formulas
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to follow established processes to achieve consistent and reliable results
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members, customers, and vendors
  • Knowledge of account coding and general accounting functions
  • Comfortable working in a structured and repetitive workflow environment
  • Provide 2 recent supervisor or manager references
