Job Description

A food and beverage company in Hamden, CT is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist to provide short-term coverage for a leave of absence. This contract role is ideal for an accounting professional who can step in quickly and support both accounts payable and payroll functions with accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Process accounts payable invoices, match purchase orders, and code expenses accurately
  • Prepare and process payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist with payroll-related recordkeeping, deductions, and timekeeping review
  • Maintain accurate financial and payroll records in internal systems
  • Support month-end close activities related to AP and payroll
  • Communicate with internal departments and vendors regarding payment and payroll inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards
  • Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed during the leave coverage period

Requirements

  • Previous experience in accounts payable, payroll, or a combined accounting support role preferred
  • Experience with payroll systems and accounting software strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related office tools
  • Ability to manage deadlines and adapt quickly in a short-term coverage role
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
