Job Description:

The Accounts Payable Manager at HSBC China is responsible for managing invoice and T&E processing, preventing operational losses, supporting financial and operational business management, and resolving business continuity issues. The role involves customer-driven service delivery, managing local projects, standardizing processes, driving operational excellence, and maintaining compliance with internal and external policies. This position supervises the Japan AP operation remotely from China and collaborates with stakeholders across HSBC.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manages the delivery of timely and effective invoice and T&E processing
  • Prevent inappropriate payments resulting in operational losses
  • Production, maintenance, and communication of accurate management information
  • Complete variance and trend analyses for financial and operational business management
  • Resolve issues related to Business Continuity, Records Retention Management, and Operational Losses
  • Timely and effective response to user needs and information requests
  • Provide effective service against published service levels
  • Maintain a customer-driven service while critically reviewing non-standard requests
  • Manage local projects, working with other departments and coordinating recommendations
  • Support development and implementation of system changes
  • Engage with Regional Head of Accounts Payable to support productivity and standardization
  • Ensure standardized reporting for effective operational management
  • Identify areas for standardization and migration within local processes
  • Increase automation and process compliance
  • Support changes in behavior to enable standardized and lower-cost processes

Requirements:

  • Understanding of HSBC structures, processes, and objectives across the Group
  • Ability to remotely manage team (both inhouse and outsourced) and stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and independently handle new and existing systems and processing
  • Ability to work independently, interact with stakeholders within the HSBC in Japan, Regional Office and other countries
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • Consultative and client-centric approach in service delivery, supported by strong problem solving skills
  • Highly adaptable and be able to work in a dynamic working environment with a strong drive and be able to work under pressure
  • A high degree of professionalism and tact in handling sensitive situations
  • Business level verbal and written communications skills and reading and writing documentations required in both English and Japanese
