We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and optimize payment processing operations within a complex organizational structure. This role requires a detail-driven leader to manage compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across multiple divisions while providing exceptional support to internal and external stakeholders. As part of this long-term contract position based in Glen Allen, Virginia, you will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to accounting standards and organizational policies.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including vendor maintenance, voucher processing, petty cash, travel reimbursements, employee expenses, and 1099 reporting
Supervise the administration of the Small Purchase Charge Card Program while ensuring compliance with organizational policies
Review and approve payment transactions to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance, addressing any exceptions as needed
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and internal accounting standards, including prompt payment regulations
Provide clear and precise communication with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to address inquiries and maintain strong relationships
Uphold confidentiality standards for sensitive financial and organizational information
Lead and mentor accounts payable staff, fostering growth and maintaining high performance
Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and prevent discrepancies
Collaborate with other departments to streamline payment processes and resolve issues efficiently
Requirements:
At least 7 years of experience in accounts payable management, financial operations, or a related field
Deep knowledge of compliance standards, internal controls, and payment processing regulations
Proficiency in accounts payable systems and tools, including check runs, ACH payments, and P-card management
Familiarity with US GAAP and ability to ensure compliance within financial reporting
Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising staff or managing workflows
Excellent problem-solving abilities and customer service aptitude
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage complex processes effectively
