We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join a faith-based nonprofit organization in Sarasota, Florida. This is a contract position offering an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic finance team during a transitional phase. The role involves handling various accounts payable tasks and supporting banking activities for multiple entities.
Job Responsibility:
Process invoices and ensure accurate coding for payments across multiple nonprofit entities
Prepare and print checks, including posting them into QuickBooks Online
Upload payment files to bank portals and manage positive pay setups
Review exception reports to identify and resolve discrepancies
Assist with light journal entries and maintain accurate financial records
Export and analyze data using QuickBooks Online and Excel
Support banking activities and ensure compliance with organizational policies
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth financial operations during periods of change
Think critically to verify the accuracy of transactions and maintain proper documentation
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing and check runs
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required
Strong understanding of debits, credits, and general accounting principles
Ability to adapt to changes and work collaboratively in a team environment
Intermediate skills in Excel, including data exporting and analysis
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Blackbaud is a plus
Prior experience in a nonprofit setting is advantageous but not mandatory
