We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a strong accounting mindset and a passion for accuracy and compliance. As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a key role in the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring that supplier invoices are processed accurately, payments are made on time, and all procedures comply with internal policies and applicable tax regulations. Job Responsibility:
Receive, review, and validate supplier invoices in accordance with purchase orders, delivery notes, and contracts
Record purchase and service invoices in the hotel’s accounting system
Monitor due dates and prepare payment runs according to agreed supplier terms
Perform regular reconciliation of supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies
Manage credit notes, advance payments, and accounting adjustments
Coordinate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Operations departments to ensure correct cost allocation
Verify compliance with current tax regulations (Canary Islands VAT – IGIC, withholdings, etc.)
File, organize, and control accounting documentation in both physical and digital formats
Support monthly and annual closing processes related to accounts payable
Collaborate in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and information
Requirements:
Vocational Training Degree (Intermediate or Higher Level) in Administration and Finance, Accounting, or similar
University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related fields is an asset
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a similar role
Previous experience in hotels or tourism companies in the Canary Islands is highly valued
Solid understanding of general accounting and accounts payable processes
Knowledge and practical experience with IGIC
Experience using ERP or accounting systems (PeopleSoft experience is an advantage)
Intermediate level of Excel (tables, basic formulas, list control)
High level of organization and attention to detail
Ability to work in a structured manner and meet deadlines
Strong interdepartmental coordination skills
Accuracy- and control-oriented mindset
Discretion and confidentiality in handling financial information
Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
Spanish: mandatory
English: intermediate level is an advantage
Valid work permit for Spain
Nice to have:
University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related fields
Previous experience in hotels or tourism companies in the Canary Islands
PeopleSoft experience
