We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Frankfort, Kentucky. In this role, you will manage the company's outgoing payments, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and vendors are paid promptly. You will play a critical part in maintaining precise financial records and supporting compliance initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Review and verify invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper approvals and adherence to company policies
Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receipts to maintain payment accuracy
Enter invoices into the accounting system and process regular payment runs, including checks, wire transfers, and other methods
Resolve payment discrepancies by collaborating with vendors, procurement teams, and internal departments
Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and in a timely manner to maintain strong business relationships
Reconcile vendor statements and address outstanding items to ensure accounts are up to date
Assist with month-end closing tasks, including reconciling accounts payable transactions and preparing necessary reports
Prepare and file annual tax documentation, such as Form 1099, in compliance with regulations
Support audits by providing required documentation and maintaining accurate financial records
Uphold internal controls and compliance standards for all payment activities
Requirements:
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
a bachelor's degree is preferred
At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting roles
Strong understanding of three-way matching processes involving invoices, purchase orders, and receipts
Proficiency in accounting software and systems, with experience in Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with tax documentation requirements, such as W-9s and 1099s
Solid knowledge of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, and accruals
Excellent problem-solving skills for resolving payment discrepancies and vendor issues
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
