We are looking for a skilled Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves managing payroll and accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting and finance, while demonstrating professionalism and the ability to work independently.
Job Responsibility:
Process payroll for domestic and international employees, including clergy staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial policies
Prepare and reconcile journal entries related to payroll activities and designations
Handle year-end tasks such as reviewing and processing W-2s and 1099 forms for all constituents
Manage multi-state payroll inquiries and resolve issues promptly
Collaborate with HR and benefits teams to ensure payroll data aligns with organizational policies and procedures
Conduct systematic audits of payroll records and reconcile accounts related to salary expenses and benefits
Oversee the full cycle of accounts payable, including vendor database maintenance and payment processing
Address financial inquiries from ministry constituencies and provide timely assistance or direction
Assist with annual audit preparations, including gathering documents and running reports
Maintain accurate records of travel and expense processing, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred, or equivalent experience demonstrating attention to detail
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger management
Familiarity with DocuWare and Paylocity software
Advanced proficiency in Excel and other office applications
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with vendors
Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision
Nice to have:
Experience with accounting software implementation is a plus
Non-profit experience and comfort working in a faith-based environment preferred
