Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk II to join our team in Indian Wells, California. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to efficient financial operations and support city processes. The ideal candidate will excel in managing high volumes of transactions, maintaining accuracy, and providing exceptional customer service in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process a weekly volume of 100-150 invoices, ensuring accurate data entry and timely submission
  • Reconcile credit card transactions, including P-cards, while adhering to established policies and procedures
  • Manage record requests by organizing and maintaining documentation for easy retrieval and compliance
  • Provide assistance at the front counter, addressing payment-related inquiries from residents and vendors
  • Accurately post payments to accounts and update records in the accounting system
  • Support audits by ensuring compliance with financial policies and preparing necessary documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounts payable processes and enhance communication
  • Assist in maintaining adherence to municipal finance policies and procedures
  • Utilize accounting software and tools to optimize efficiency in processing transactions

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in accounts payable or a related finance role
  • Proven ability to process high volumes of invoices and payments with accuracy
  • Proficiency in accounting software, including Tyler Technologies Munis, and Office Suite applications
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities to interact with vendors and residents
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with municipal finance policies or public sector accounting is advantageous
  • Knowledge of coding invoices and performing check runs is highly preferred
