Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for a projected four-month engagement with our nonprofit client in West Los Angeles. In this role, the Accounting Supervisor will report directly to the Corporate Controller and CFO, providing support and expertise in general accounting, audit processes, and tax filings. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit resourcefulness, initiative, and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and delivering results with limited training. This opportunity offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week.
Job Responsibility:
Perform detailed reconciliations for cash, bank accounts, and other balance sheet items to ensure accuracy
Prepare comprehensive audit schedules and actively contribute to the annual audit process
Develop supporting schedules for nonprofit tax filings, including forms 990, 990T, and related state documents
File miscellaneous tax forms, such as Secretary of State SI-100, and manage compliance for complex gift reporting through Form 8282
Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to maintain adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements
Review and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger
Assist in month-end close processes, including financial statement preparation and account reconciliation
Analyze large datasets using advanced Excel tools to support financial decision-making
Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and tax reporting requirements
Provide organizational support with tax filings and compliance-related documentation
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
A minimum of 3-4 years of accounting experience, preferably within the nonprofit sector
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and reporting standards
Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and tax reporting processes, including Form 990
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work efficiently with large datasets
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in financial tasks
Effective communication and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively deliver results in a fast-paced environment
