We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, you will ensure financial accuracy, compliance with regulatory standards, and the preparation of insightful reports to reflect organizational performance. You will work closely with leadership to enhance policies, provide guidance to team members, and deliver exceptional support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and supervise the daily activities of the accounting team to ensure smooth operations and adherence to established procedures
Oversee the preparation, reconciliation, and analysis of financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational standards
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by staff to maintain high-quality outputs
Collaborate with leadership on month-end close processes, annual audits, tax preparation, and internal and external reporting requirements
Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff to foster attention to detail and maintain a productive team
Evaluate and improve accounting policies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance
Support the implementation and management of accounting systems and internal controls to streamline operations
Assist in analyzing financial variances and trends, providing actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders
Maintain and update the organization's chart of accounts, ensuring proper usage and understanding among team members
Partner with department leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements and provide financial guidance as needed
Requirements:
Proven experience in managing accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices in accounting
Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Experience with financial audits and tax preparation processes
Ability to implement and enhance accounting systems and internal controls
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on developing and motivating staff
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and provide actionable insights
