We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to join a manufacturing organization in Walker, Michigan and help lead core accounting operations with accuracy and consistency. This role is responsible for supporting reliable financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and driving a smooth close process across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles. The position also contributes to audit readiness, fixed asset oversight, and broader finance support in a deadline-driven environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting activities to ensure complete and timely financial reporting
Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analyses to support the accuracy of the general ledger
Assist with the creation of financial statements and investigate fluctuations or variances that affect reported results
Coordinate materials and documentation for internal and external audits, including the preparation of supporting schedules and workpapers
Manage fixed asset records by overseeing capitalization, depreciation, retirements, and impairment assessments
Administer lease accounting schedules and calculate related right-of-use assets and lease obligations
Complete assigned accounting projects such as property tax support, management reporting, and other ad hoc financial analysis
Provide guidance to accounting operations by reviewing manufacturing variances and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
Maintain organized financial records and ensure general ledger information remains accurate, current, and audit-ready
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
Experience with fixed asset accounting and the ability to manage related schedules and reporting
Working knowledge of manufacturing cost structures and variance analysis
Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
Effective analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
Proven ability to manage priorities independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Nice to have:
Experience with ERP platforms such as JD Edwards
