We are looking for an Accounting Specialist with strong attention to detail to join our team in Tuskegee, Alabama. This role is critical to supporting the financial operations for the institution. As a Contract-to-Permanent position, it offers the opportunity to transition into a long-term role based on performance.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets to track incoming grants, including performance periods, principal investigators, and reporting requirements
Manually manage grant-related data that cannot be captured within the financial system
Assist in monitoring accounting transactions to ensure compliance with established standards and protocols
Collaborate with team members to merge and analyze spreadsheets for accurate reporting
Support financial analysts and other accounting functions within the department
Provide detailed and timely reports to meet grant accountability requirements
Participate in training sessions to learn and utilize the institution’s financial systems
Uphold high standards and contribute to a focused and efficient work environment
Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines
Adhere to business casual dress code and punctual work hours
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including skills such as VLOOKUPs and merging spreadsheets
General knowledge of accounting principles and transactions
Experience with government grants or grant accounting is preferred
Familiarity with accounting software systems and financial reporting tools
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Commitment to punctuality and a conscientious approach to work
