Accounting Specialist

• Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets to track incoming grants, including performance periods, principal investigators, and reporting requirements
• Manually manage grant-related data that cannot be captured within the financial system
• Assist in monitoring accounting transactions to ensure compliance with established standards and protocols
• Collaborate with team members to merge and analyze spreadsheets for accurate reporting
• Support financial analysts and other accounting functions within the department
• Provide detailed and timely reports to meet grant accountability requirements
• Participate in training sessions to learn and utilize the institution’s financial systems
• Uphold high standards and contribute to a focused and efficient work environment
• Ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines
• Adhere to business casual dress code and punctual work hours

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including skills such as VLOOKUPs and merging spreadsheets
• General knowledge of accounting principles and transactions
• Experience with government grants or grant accounting is preferred
• Familiarity with accounting software systems and financial reporting tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Commitment to punctuality and a conscientious approach to work
