We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support daily financial operations in New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling both payables and receivables while keeping records accurate, organized, and up to date. The right candidate will bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with vendors, customers, and internal teams in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Review and process vendor payments and customer invoices with a high level of accuracy while following established financial guidelines
Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable records, investigate variances, and take corrective action to resolve outstanding issues
Track open balances and follow up on overdue accounts to help maintain timely collections and healthy cash flow
Partner with internal departments as well as external contacts to address billing questions, payment concerns, and account discrepancies
Prepare regular financial summaries and aging reports to give management clear visibility into account status and trends
Maintain orderly digital and physical documentation so financial records remain accessible, complete, and compliant
Coordinate payment schedules and monitor deadlines to ensure obligations are met on time
Respond promptly to inquiries related to invoices, payments, and account activity while providing attentive customer service
Requirements:
2+ years of related accounting experience with hands-on exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and reconciliations
High school diploma required
additional education in accounting or business is preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong working knowledge of Excel
Ability to learn new accounting platforms quickly
Strong organizational skills with careful attention to detail and record accuracy
Demonstrated reliability, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately
Effective problem-solving and communication skills to manage questions, discrepancies, and shifting priorities
