As the Accounting Manager at Amgen, you'll be responsible for overseeing the general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. You will review, monitor and manage budgets, develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information, supports financial reporting, and leads initiatives to standardize, automate, and elevate finance processes.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage the GAAP accounting close process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
Partner with outsourced teams, collaborate with regional/country accounting teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting and reconciliations
Actively participate in automation, system enhancements, and digital finance initiatives to simplify existing process areas
Build and maintain dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Adv excel similar) to deliver meaningful insights for leadership time to time
Provide financial analysis, variance commentary, and decision-support to business partners
Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and statutory requirements
Ensures compliance with US GAAP and statutory reporting requirement
Support expansion and growth of the region - implementation/integration of business, finance and accounting processes and related system roll out
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA/CA/CMA or equivalent preferred
10+ years’ regional finance/accounting experience in multinational companies (US-listed a plus)
Strong expertise in accounting processes, US GAAP reporting, and SOX/internal control frameworks
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred, S/4 HANA a plus) with exposure to automation tools (RPA, workflow bots, advanced Excel, or similar)
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret trends, perform variance analysis, and deliver financial storytelling
Strong project management skills and experience to deliver ERP/process improvement projects
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and drive collaboration across countries, teams, and external partners
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take a hands-on approach, problem-solve, and remain resilient in a fast-paced, multinational environment

Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred
