Job Description

A growing construction company in North County San Diego is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and lead a small accounting team. This role will be responsible for managing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting support, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data across multiple projects and business units. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both leadership and hands-on accounting responsibilities.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff including AP, AR, and Staff Accountants
  • Manage daily accounting operations and workflow priorities
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Establish and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax-related requests
  • Monitor project accounting and job cost reporting activities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Support ERP implementations, upgrades, and reporting enhancements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel and ERP system experience required
  • CPA designation is a plus
  • Experience with Sage 100 Contractor, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar construction accounting

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting experience strongly preferred
