Accounting Manager – Fairfield CT – Real Estate Private Equity. Our team is working with a rapidly growing real estate private equity fund investing in affordable housing developments looking to hire an Accounting Manager to their team. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full accounting function for the fund and its subsidiary real estate entities, including general ledger, AP/AR, cash flow management, and internal controls. Lead capital calls, waterfall calculations, distributions, preferred returns, and partner capital accounts, while delivering institutional-quality JV reporting packages. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, support budgeting and forecasting alongside senior leadership, and handle grant compliance and lender/investor reporting. Coordinate audits and partnership tax filings (1065s and K-1s) with external advisors, and provide financial support for new project underwriting and development initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow tracking for the fund and its subsidiary companies
Prepare capital calls, waterfall calculations, distributions, preferred returns, and partner capital accounts
Ensure timely delivery of investor-grade JV reporting packages, aligned with institutional standards and reporting expectations
Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Support grant compliance, funding draw requests, and financial reporting to lenders, investors, and governmental/quasi-governmental agencies
Assist with budget preparation, variance tracking and financial forecasting in collaboration with senior leadership
Manage the preparation and review of audit materials (coordinate with external auditors and accountants)
Coordinate partnership tax filings (Forms 1065 and K-1s), working closely with external tax advisors
Establish and uphold internal controls, policies, and accounting best practices
Maintain accurate records for organizational and project-specific (real estate) entities
Provide financial support for new project underwriting and development activities as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
Deep understanding of real estate accounting standards (GAAP), joint venture structures and equity waterfalls
Ability to oversee the tax filing process and coordinate with accounting firms to prepare and timely file federal and state tax returns for joint venture and single asset property companies
