A client of ours is looking for an Accounting Manager for a contract role with a strong background in the hospital or healthcare provider industry and hands-on experience with the EPIC system. This role is heavily focused on accounting operations and will play a critical part as the organization prepares for EPIC go live and post implementation stabilization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment during a major system transition
Job Responsibility:
Serve as the Accounting lead for the EPIC implementation, partnering closely with IT, Revenue Cycle, Finance, and clinical teams
Support the organization as it prepares for EPIC go live, ensuring accounting workflows and data structures are fully mapped, validated, and reconciled
Participate in cutover activities, including final data validation, parallel testing, and financial integration checks
Lead post implementation support to resolve accounting issues, troubleshoot system outputs, and refine processes as the organization stabilizes in EPIC
Oversee integration points between EPIC modules and the general ledger (billing, cash posting, charge capture, cost centers)
Review existing accounting processes and redesign workflows to align with EPIC functionality
Perform and supervise general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and validate financial results for accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and hospital finance standards
Provide training and guidance to accounting and finance teams on EPIC-related accounting processes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or MBA preferred
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for hospital or healthcare provider industry
Prior experience with EPIC financial modules, including involvement in an implementation, upgrade, or go live
Deep understanding of hospital revenue cycle, patient billing, reimbursement, and financial workflows
Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare accounting best practices
Proficiency in Excel and ERP/general ledger systems
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional project collaboration skills
Experience supporting go live cutover and post implementation stabilization for a major healthcare system
Ability to interpret complex financial data and ensure accurate system mapping
Strong operational focus with the ability to streamline and optimize accounting processes
Nice to have:
Knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting within hospital settings is preferred
