We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and grant management processes in our organization based in Oceanside, California. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with grant requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting organizational goals through effective financial management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in nonprofit accounting and a strong ability to manage both people and processes.
Job Responsibility:
Identify and evaluate grant funding opportunities to support organizational operations effectively
Prepare and submit grant applications while ensuring compliance with performance and reporting requirements
Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial, operational, and programmatic data for grant proposals and reports
Maintain compliance with grant scopes of work and contractual obligations, addressing any issues with funders or stakeholders
Coordinate invoicing, reimbursements, and payments related to grants with accuracy and timeliness
Supervise and provide guidance to entry-level accounting staff to support their growth and performance
Reconcile accounts monthly, perform month-end financial close, and ensure proper classification of revenues and expenses
Process payroll and employee timesheets, allocating costs appropriately across grants and funding sources
Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and reconciliations, for executive review
Participate in audits, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards
Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant management, public finance, or nonprofit accounting
Associate’s degree in accounting required
a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred
Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and public-sector funding is highly desirable
Proficiency in grant accounting and administration, including compliance with funding requirements
Expertise in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations
Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and conduct audits
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience in supervising staff and mentoring team members effectively
