We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee billing, trust accounting, accounts receivable, and financial operations for a growing firm in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial processes while supporting attorneys and staff with billing and accounting inquiries. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, bringing exceptional technical expertise and a proactive, hands-on approach to managing financial responsibilities.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the firm's billing operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of financial activities
Oversee trust accounts, ensuring adherence to State Bar regulations and maintaining compliance standards
Manage month-end close processes, including maintaining the general ledger and preparing financial reporting packages for leadership
Collaborate with outsourced partners to ensure efficient handling of accounts payable and general ledger functions
Administer billing configurations and provide support to attorneys and staff on billing-related inquiries
Monitor accounts receivable and work-in-progress to optimize cash flow and financial performance
Prepare annual budgets and support year-end financial reporting and audits
Ensure effective cash management strategies to align with organizational goals
Maintain detailed account reconciliations and oversee journal entries to ensure accuracy
Provide guidance and expertise on legal billing processes within the firm
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is mandatory
Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles
Expertise in trust accounting and legal billing is highly preferred
Strong proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance
Familiarity with financial statement audits and preparation of annual budgets including WIP
Experience in service industries with time and billing systems is an advantage
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and outsourced partners
Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities in a dynamic environment
