Hands-on manager supporting MPG’s businesses and their local management teams in Austin, TX. Carry out the day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the businesses to include financial close, internal controls, cost accounting, reporting and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, safeguarding assets and supervising support staff.
Job Responsibility:
Completion of the monthly financial close including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations in compliance with Dover/MPG policies and procedures
Preparation of management and operational reports
Improve the accuracy and completeness of financial budgets and forecasts that support the execution of MPG’s business strategy
Safeguard company assets and reasonably ensure the accurate, complete, and timely recording of all business transactions through the maintenance of strong internal controls
Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, and cost accounting
Perform various financial analyses to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc.
Interact with peers to share ideas and develop best practices across the organization
Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, collection agencies, taxing authorities, etc.
Supervises team members including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.
Requirements:
BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 5 years' experience in financial/accounting positions of increasing responsibility, including supervisory experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experienced in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses
Experienced working with and leveraging ERPs to support the operations of a business
Ability to use spreadsheets, charts, memos, and presentations to convey financial principles and concepts
Demonstrated ability to achieve quality results in an efficient and timely manner
At least 1 year of supervisory experience
Self-starter with strong communication skills
Detail oriented with excellent technical and analytical skills
Team player with the ability to relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company
Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks
Strong ERP and computer skills
