We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate to join the Accounting team at BAE Systems, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the General Ledger and Financial Reporting, as well as coordinating Accounting Systems upgrades. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will interact with the Resource Center teams for Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll, and Travel, and collaborate with Internal and External auditors on various projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent analytical skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Deltek System (CostPoint) is required, and Government Contractor experience is preferred. This position will report to the Director of Accounting/Senior Accounting Manager
Job Responsibility:
Manage General Ledger responsibilities, which include completing period and subperiod closes in the ERP, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with accounting best practices and BAE policies
Manage the creation and submission of monthly financial statements and associated reporting through the Corporate HFM system, including primary responsibility for reporting multiple units in HFM and assistance with related financial analyses
Manage and coordinate Accounting System upgrades and maintenance
Prime Support for internal and external audit requests and support the Financial Control Framework requirement for USHQ and Shared Services
Lead USHQ activities associated with the Shared Services organization (Payroll, Travel and Accounts Payable)
Drive continuous improvement and best practices throughout the organization
Execute special projects as assigned and provide technical accounting guidance
Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations as well as company policies and directives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 8 years of work experience or equivalent experience
Previous experience with CostPoint is required
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Experience leading or managing a finance team
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Good planning, time management and organizational skills
Sound interpersonal skills when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with personnel and customers
Nice to have:
Masters degree in Accounting
Previous experience in a Government Contractor setting
