We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core financial operations for a construction-focused organization in West Palm Beach, Florida. This role is responsible for keeping accounting activities accurate, timely, and compliant while supporting project financial oversight and company-wide reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with operational and executive teams.
Job Responsibility:
Direct daily accounting operations across cash activity, payables, receivables, fixed asset tracking, payroll, and general ledger management
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, payroll review, and preparation of financial records for audits and tax reporting
Monitor the accuracy of financial reporting by strengthening internal controls, maintaining accounting procedures, and applying updated accounting guidance when needed
Manage construction-related accounting tasks such as job cost tracking, percentage-of-completion reporting, work-in-progress analysis, and project-level financial reporting
Build annual budgets and financial forecasts, analyze performance against plan, and communicate key variances to leadership
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and executives to resolve job cost issues, support project administration, and improve financial visibility across active work
Administer subcontractor documentation and compliance requirements, including insurance certificates, bonds, lien waivers, affidavits, and billing support materials
Review contract-related financial terms, support agreement administration, and maintain insurance records for the company, clients, and subcontractors
Requirements:
5+ years of accounting experience, including significant exposure to commercial construction accounting environments
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
an advanced degree is preferred
Demonstrated success managing general ledger activity and completing month-end and year-end close accurately and on schedule
Hands-on experience with construction accounting concepts such as job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and AIA or contract-based billing processes
Knowledge of subcontract documentation and contract administration requirements, including lien releases and related compliance records
Proficiency with account reconciliations, journal entries, audit support, and financial statement preparation
Experience with Sage 300, Sage Timberline, and Paycor is strongly preferred
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, decisiveness, and the ability to communicate clearly with both financial and operational stakeholders
