Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and oversee the Accounts Payable function. This role will manage the accounting team while providing oversight to the AP Manager and team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient processes. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, owning the month-end close process, and supporting the organization's continued growth.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries
  • Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance
  • Manage, mentor and develop accounting staff, including performance management and professional development
  • Provide oversight of the Accounts Payable function through the AP Manager, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and investigating variances
  • Ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Partner cross-functionally to support financial accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Oversee sales tax filings and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Assist with audits and coordinate preparation and review of required documentation
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness
  • Support ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting, month-end close, and accounts payable
  • Deep understanding of general ledger accounting (GAAP)
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong experience reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and financial data
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience owning or leading month-end close processes

  • Experience overseeing or partnering closely with Accounts Payable functions preferred
