Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, California through a Contract engagement. This role will focus on strengthening core accounting operations, improving financial visibility, and helping organize key processes that support accurate reporting and informed decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep accounting expertise, strong project-based consulting experience, and the ability to guide multiple priorities in a collaborative environment. (This role is hybrid with onsite requirements every week.)

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead accounting initiatives designed to improve financial processes and strengthen day-to-day operational accuracy
  • Redesign the chart of accounts and related class structures to better align financial reporting with organizational needs
  • Evaluate accounts payable workflows and recommend automation opportunities to increase efficiency and control
  • Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring timely journal entries, reconciliations, and review of general ledger activity
  • Prepare and analyze financial information to support audit readiness and maintain compliance with reporting standards
  • Document accounting procedures, process updates, and internal controls to create clear and sustainable guidance for the team
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, prioritize project deliverables, and support ongoing financial improvement efforts

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including work at the Accounting Manager level or in a comparable consulting capacity
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, general ledger management, account reconciliations, and journal entry review
  • Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing documentation required for external review
  • Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks and the ability to assess and improve accounting system usage
  • Demonstrated experience restructuring chart of accounts frameworks and enhancing reporting organization
  • Strong process documentation skills with a detail-oriented approach to accuracy, organization, and follow-through
