Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure the accuracy of accounting activities for our construction and service company. This role is integral to maintaining precise financial records, preparing detailed reports, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing transactional accounting processes, supervising a team, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to provide valuable financial insights.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including invoicing, cash application, subcontractor billing, job costing, and expense report processing
  • Lead efforts to improve cash management processes and mitigate risks such as check and wire fraud by transitioning to electronic payment methods
  • Act as a subject matter expert on state tax regulations, ensuring compliance with tax exemptions and documentation requirements while resolving discrepancies with authorities
  • Manage tax registrations and licenses, supporting new registrations as the company expands its product offerings
  • Review and analyze transactions before month-end close to ensure accuracy and completeness, identifying and addressing inefficiencies
  • Execute and supervise the month-end close process, preparing financial statements for assigned business entities
  • Analyze open and closed projects to provide insights on job costing, cost overruns, and other key metrics to operations teams
  • Approve and post journal entries prepared by accounting staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to report monthly financial results and provide actionable insights
  • Oversee critical accounting processes, including inventory management, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and procure-to-pay activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on transactional processes and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Concur and other accounting software systems
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and billing functions
  • Expertise in month-end close processes, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
  • Solid understanding of job costing, GAAP accounting principles, and inventory accounting
  • Experience with cash management processes and mitigating payment risks
  • Familiarity with fixed asset management and capital expenditure accounting
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop accounting staff and analysts.
