We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting activities and support accurate, timely financial reporting in California. This role oversees daily accounting operations, guides a small team, and partners across the business to strengthen controls, resolve issues, and improve processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and hands-on experience in close activities, reconciliations, and audit support.
Job Responsibility
Direct daily accounting functions across the general ledger, financial reporting, and tax-related activities while maintaining accuracy and compliance
Lead cost accounting efforts, review inventory reconciliations, and work closely with manufacturing partners to investigate and resolve variances
Manage, coach, and develop a small accounting team, providing clear direction, ongoing feedback, and opportunities for career growth
Support hiring efforts, onboard new team members, and conduct performance reviews to build a high-performing department
Oversee the month-end close process to ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and financial results are reliable and consistent
Review balance sheet reconciliations and handle more complex account analysis to maintain strong financial integrity
Prepare and review schedules and supporting documentation for external audits and property or sales tax compliance requirements
Drive process improvements by refining accounting policies, strengthening internal procedures, and increasing operational efficiency
Partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to address accounting questions, improve communication, and resolve issues proactively
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience managing month-end close, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and journal entries
Background in manufacturing or cost accounting is preferred, with exposure to property and sales tax activities considered a plus
