We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a manufacturing company based in Troy, Michigan. In this role, you will oversee a variety of critical operational functions, including accounting, payroll, human resources, and order entry, while managing a team of four direct reports. This position requires a hands-on approach to financial reporting, cost analysis, and compliance audits, ensuring the company’s financial processes run smoothly and accurately.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and order entry operations to maintain efficiency and compliance
Audit and prepare monthly financial reports utilizing the Epicor system for submission to the parent company
Perform cost analysis on direct materials, manufacturing, and overhead to support accurate sales quoting
Coordinate biannual financial reviews and assist with annual audits, including workers’ compensation and bank audits
Collaborate with program management to review customer orders and forecasts, ensuring proper credit file maintenance and processing
Supervise the verification of purchase orders, ensuring alignment with originating quotations prior to entry
Develop and implement departmental procedures and forms to improve workflow and operational efficiency
Establish internal processes for systematic record retention, protection, retrieval, and disposal
Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports, encouraging attention to detail and team collaboration
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounting management, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of month-end closing, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation
Proficiency in auditing processes and account reconciliation
Familiarity with cost analysis for manufacturing and materials
Expertise in using Epicor or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple operational areas and direct reports
Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and with external stakeholders
