We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and enhance the financial operations of our organization in New York, New York. This role requires a strong leader who can manage key accounting processes, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with financial standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring teams and a deep understanding of inventory accounting and financial reporting.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Oversee inventory accounting activities, including cost of goods sold analysis, inventory valuation, and reconciliation of inventory records with the general ledger
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses prepared by the accounting team
Lead and mentor a team of accountants by providing guidance, training, and constructive feedback to support their growth and development
Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to track inventory movements, resolve discrepancies, and support physical inventory counts
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and proper application of inventory costing methods, such as weighted average or standard costing
Prepare and deliver financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses to senior leadership
Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function, focusing on automation, internal controls, and scalability
Coordinate with external auditors by preparing necessary schedules, documentation, and responding to audit requests
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes as needed
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, including leadership roles
Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and general ledger activities
Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and cost of goods sold analysis
Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
Experience in account reconciliations and journal entry approvals
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams effectively
Familiarity with external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation
Strong analytical skills, with a focus on identifying and implementing process improvements
