Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to provide interim leadership and technical oversight for our Accounting team during a critical transition period. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to maintain operational continuity in payroll, financial reporting, and accounting processes, while driving process improvements and supporting digital transformation initiatives. Based in DeSoto, Kansas, this role is ideal for a highly skilled individual with a strong background in operational accounting and team mentorship.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to a team of 16 accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and accountable work culture
  • Support payroll administrators in managing weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring all account reconciliations and financial reporting deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Supervise operational accounting activities, including inventory accounting, cost accounting, and fixed asset management within a manufacturing environment
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, offering insights on financial trends and variance analysis
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to finance and operational goals
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement enhancements to drive efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support digital transformation initiatives, including system automation and optimization
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and audit readiness
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions to uphold financial integrity

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within a manufacturing or similar industry
  • Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and practices, including weekly and biweekly cycles
  • Experience with financial statement audits and adherence to compliance standards
  • Ability to create and manage journal entries with precision and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and fixed asset management
  • Familiarity with advanced process controls and digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations
