Job Description:

This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic financial planning within the organization. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead and mentor an accounting team while supporting organizational goals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and present findings to leadership and board committees
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and ongoing financial monitoring
  • Provide recommendations on financial planning, investments, and funding strategies in collaboration with executive leadership
  • Oversee payroll processes, including calculations for new hires, terminations, and employee disability payments
  • Manage quarterly financial reviews and coordinate year-end audits with external auditors and regulatory agencies
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required federal, state, and grant-related financial reports
  • Maintain compliance with reporting requirements, including pension, grant funding, and annual financial filings
  • Provide financial data and reporting support for leadership and various departments as needed
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including the Bookkeeper
  • Participate in internal meetings, including finance committees and administrative leadership sessions
  • Support staff with financial systems, including purchase order (PO) platforms

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in education or a similar environment
  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, databases, and spreadsheet tools (Google Suite preferred)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
