We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a portfolio of properties in Hartford, Connecticut. This role involves managing monthly accounting close activities, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards, and providing on-site support to partner Housing Authorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise a team responsible for completing monthly close processes for multiple properties
Ensure timely completion of monthly close activities by managing and tracking schedules
Review and approve bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Analyze trial balances for compliance with organizational standards and accuracy
Oversee the preparation and distribution of financial reports to stakeholders on a monthly and quarterly basis
Reconcile between internal systems and property management software
Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and submitting municipal income and expense reports
Provide on-site guidance and supervision of accounting staff
Ensure consistent implementation of internal accounting controls and procedures
Support audits, insurance renewals, and reserve account activity for assigned properties
Requirements:
Proven experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
Expertise in managing journal entries and trial balance analysis
Familiarity with preparing financial statements and conducting audits
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks
Ability to develop and manage operating budgets effectively
Excellent leadership and communication skills to support teams and stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
