We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join a real estate sales and leasing organization in Edina, Minnesota. This role will oversee core accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and help maintain accurate reporting across key business activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to improving processes and supporting a collaborative finance team.
Job Responsibility
Lead the monthly close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy.
Provide guidance and backup support for commission-related accounting activities and assist team members with priority tasks when needed.
Oversee accounts payable workflows, including review and authorization of disbursements to maintain compliance with internal controls.
Manage commission review and approval activities to support timely and accurate payment processing.
Administer sensitive treasury control activities such as banking approvals, account access oversight, and recipient validation.
Perform and review bank reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.
Prepare financial reports and related analyses to support leadership visibility into operating results and financial performance.
Evaluate accounting procedures, identify opportunities for greater efficiency, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen operations.
Assist with year-end compliance activities, including 1099 preparation, sales tax support, and other required governmental filings.
Partner with business leaders on budgeting, insurance coordination, financial reviews, reporting needs, and selected administrative support functions such as commission and HR-related processes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of general ledger activity, financial reporting, and core accounting controls.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and confidence using accounting systems and other business technology tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, support team members, and contribute positively across a multi-location accounting function.
Proven track record of identifying accounting issues, correcting discrepancies, and improving departmental processes.
Experience handling accounts payable oversight, bank reconciliations, and journal entry review in a deadline-driven environment.
