A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day financial operations and support organizational leadership. This role will oversee core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance, while helping to ensure the long-term financial health of the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role with leadership visibility and experience working in a nonprofit and grant-funded environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll support, and bank reconciliations
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Monitor financial performance and provide analysis, reporting, and recommendations to leadership
Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including program-level budget tracking
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP) and grant requirements
Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Partner with leadership to evaluate financial results and address program deficits or funding gaps
Support and oversee grant-related financial activity, including reporting and compliance
(If applicable) Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
Prior experience in an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or senior-level accounting role
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination
Exposure to grant-funded environments is strongly preferred
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Excel
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
