We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Manager to lead and oversee accounting operations in our organization located in Petersburg, Virginia. This role requires a proactive individual with expertise in payroll, benefits administration, and HR processes, who is ready to take ownership of the department’s functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a meticulous approach to managing financial tasks and compliance.
Job Responsibility:
Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and federal regulations
Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment, updates, and communication with employees
Handle HR-related tasks such as onboarding and offboarding employees, maintaining proper documentation and records
Post banking transactions and perform account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting
Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and accounting principles
Lead month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Collaborate with auditors during financial statement audits to provide necessary documentation and support
Supervise and support clerical staff in their day-to-day operations
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and properly categorized
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or related roles
Proven expertise in payroll management and benefits administration
Strong knowledge of general ledger operations and month-end close processes
Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations
Familiarity with financial statement audits and compliance requirements
Exceptional organizational and leadership skills
Proficiency in accounting software and tools
Effective communication skills to ensure smooth collaboration across departments
