We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting operations for a restaurants and catering organization in Amherst, New York. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing daily and monthly accounting activity, and supporting sound financial practices across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, excellent reconciliation skills, and the ability to provide reliable guidance on accounting procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Direct day-to-day accounting activities across payables, receivables, fixed assets, third-party billing, cash handling, and credit card sales processing
Maintain the general ledger for agency-related accounts by preparing, reviewing, and posting accurate journal entries
Partner with organizational leadership to advise on appropriate accounting methods, controls, and financial procedures
Review daily ticket office transactions and ensure activity is recorded, balanced, and reconciled correctly
Oversee recurring accounting processes such as accounts payable review, budget updates, and bi-weekly and quarterly payroll postings
Complete month-end close activities on schedule and prepare monthly financial statements for management review
Monitor banking activity and perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
Manage excess cash investments and reconcile investment account balances as part of ongoing treasury oversight
Reconcile monthly credit card transactions and investigate variances to support accurate reporting.
Requirements:
Proven experience in an accounting management or accounting supervisor role
Strong background in month-end close and maintaining general ledger accuracy
Demonstrated ability to prepare and post journal entries and complete account reconciliations
