Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Manager / Controller to join a thriving manufacturing company near Columbia, Tennessee. This role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to take on a leadership position in managing the company’s financial operations. The ideal candidate will excel in overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance, and contributing to strategic financial planning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee general ledger transactions, monthly financial statements, and job costing processes
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate subsidiary schedules for financial accounts
  • Support budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance reporting
  • Manage monthly and quarterly accounting closes and publish timely financial statements
  • Assist with customer billings, collections, and weekly accounts payable processing
  • Ensure compliance by maintaining state registrations and business tax licenses
  • Contribute to inventory management by participating in annual and interim cycle counts
  • Process weekly payroll and handle payroll tax functions and reporting
  • Lead the annual financial audit and collaborate with external auditors on R&D tax credit calculations
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and internal controls, implementing solutions as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • A minimum of one year of experience in public accounting or a comparable role
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and familiarity with job costing software such as JobBoss is preferred
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with financial reporting, including year-end close and accounts payable
  • Knowledge of cost of goods sold (COGS) and month-end close processes
  • Ability to navigate accounting systems and implement process improvements effectively
