We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Manager / Controller to join a thriving manufacturing company near Columbia, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will excel in overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance, and contributing to strategic financial planning.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee general ledger transactions, monthly financial statements, and job costing processes
Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate subsidiary schedules for financial accounts
Support budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance reporting
Manage monthly and quarterly accounting closes and publish timely financial statements
Assist with customer billings, collections, and weekly accounts payable processing
Ensure compliance by maintaining state registrations and business tax licenses
Contribute to inventory management by participating in annual and interim cycle counts
Process weekly payroll and handle payroll tax functions and reporting
Lead the annual financial audit and collaborate with external auditors on R&D tax credit calculations
Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and internal controls, implementing solutions as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
A minimum of one year of experience in public accounting or a comparable role
Proficiency with QuickBooks and familiarity with job costing software such as JobBoss is preferred
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
Experience with financial reporting, including year-end close and accounts payable
Knowledge of cost of goods sold (COGS) and month-end close processes
Ability to navigate accounting systems and implement process improvements effectively
