Job Description

Our dynamic client is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager - Billing to join a hybrid team in Brentwood, Tennessee on a Contract basis. This role will provide interim leadership for billing and accounts receivable activities, with a strong emphasis on revenue accuracy, month-end close, and operational support in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to improve processes while partnering effectively across functions.

Job Responsibility

  • Guide and support a five-person team responsible for billing and accounts receivable operations, ensuring priorities are clear and work is completed accurately
  • Direct complex, high-volume invoicing activities tied to long-term housing-related programs while maintaining consistency and timeliness
  • Oversee revenue-related accounting, including deferred balances and associated expense treatment, to support accurate financial reporting
  • Manage month-end close tasks connected to billing, receivables, and revenue accounts, including review of entries and reconciliations
  • Collaborate with operational and project stakeholders to confirm billing details, resolve questions, and align financial outcomes with business activity
  • Analyze workflow inefficiencies, strengthen procedures, and introduce improvements that reduce manual errors and increase productivity
  • Investigate billing exceptions, correct discrepancies, and maintain reliable internal controls across the order-to-cash process
  • Assist with audit requests and uphold compliance with applicable accounting guidance and internal financial policies
  • Prepare and communicate reporting on billing activity, aging trends, and revenue performance to support business decision-making

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience with substantial responsibility in billing and accounts receivable
  • Prior experience leading or supervising accounting staff in a fast-paced business environment
  • Solid understanding of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and related accounting principles
  • Background working in high-volume billing operations involving complex transactions or service arrangements
  • Experience with project-based accounting or similar billing structures is strongly preferred
  • Strong system skills, including required experience with D365
  • Advanced Excel capability is a plus
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organization, and problem-solving ability when handling detailed financial processes
